Happy Apricots

Our journey began in 1969, when Seyho Akbas founded Seyho Akbas Trading Co. as a sole proprietorship. The company started modestly, operating from the basement of the Akbas family home, using simple wooden machines to process sweet apricot kernels cracking, sieving, and sorting them by hand. Alongside apricot kernels, Mr. Akbas also traded small quantities of almonds, bitter almonds, dates, and dried apricots, always guided by a vision grounded in trust and integrity.

He led the company until his three sons completed their education. Between 1992 and 1993, they officially took over and transformed the business into Akbas Gida San. ve Dis Tic. A.S., a fully family-owned company, with the ambition of becoming a leading exporter in the dried apricot market.

Committed to quality as a core value, Akbas Gida initially marketed its products under the sub-brand "a Brand" until 2001, when it introduced the now well-recognized trademark “Happy Apricots.” Determined to challenge the traditional mindset of local production, the company made significant investments in its facilities to ensure the delivery of premium-quality products to customers around the world.
